Oil is often stored in underground oil caverns until it is ready to be transported to a refinery or to market. A huge quantity of water is used for construction, maintenance, and safety in oil caverns. This water is subject to contamination from oil-derived pollutants.
Surfcleaner technology is used to collect and recover floating hydrocarbons from water in oil caverns. Surfcleaner surface separator units operate continuously with low energy consumption and achieve 99.5% separation efficiency. The recovered oil can go back to storage or be reused.
