SurfCleaner is a Swedish water treatment specialist and pioneer of the world’s first skimmer separator hybrid. We are on a mission to make a positive, direct and sustainable impact on the environment. The scale of the challenge is colossal across the globe. However, SurfCleaner is mobilizing fast, rapidly expanding our distributor network across continents and forging new deals in multiple sectors worldwide.

Our unique, patented technology recovers contaminants from water surfaces including oil, diesel, petrol, and other pollutants. It has huge potential across energy and industrial sectors, including wastewater treatment plants, refineries, process industries, steel mills, tunneling, mining, recycling, waste management and broader infrastructure projects, as well as oil-spill clean-up and recovery projects across harbours, ports and coastlines.

For environmentally conscious operators, the benefits are threefold. While improving water quality by recovering a myriad of pollutants, it also boosts green credentials by reducing VOC emissions and carbon footprints. Thirdly, it neatly collects by-products including oil which can be re-used and resold contributing to the circular economy while generating new income streams.

Following recent high-profile deals with several customers around the world we can see a steep trajectory with strong order volumes in what promises to be our busiest year to date. Having already installed more than 110 units across the oil-water separation segment its roster of clients include the Swedish Coast Guard, Preem Refinery, Esso Refinery, Sonatrach Refinery, Exxon Mobil and Ports of Stockholm. Distributor partnerships in Europe, Middle East, South America and Asia are also part of a broader strategic expansion plan.

Led by an experienced team, SurfCleaner remains a passionate family-led firm, with Christina Lundbäck – daughter of the late inventor, Stig Lundbäck, MD – now at the helm. Driven by a desire to solve environmental problems, Christina is upholding the Lundbäck legacy as an outspoken advocate for sustainable industry. Aligning with global decarbonization and net-zero targets, SurfCleaner is also well positioned to help relieve future carbon tax burdens placed on industry – widely recognized as the most cost-effective mechanism to reduce emissions at the scale and speed necessary.

In the meantime, the technology remains at the ‘heart of global water treatment’ in more sense than one, as Stig’s innovative technology – coined DAPP (Dynamic Adaptive Piston Pump) – takes front and central stage, mimicking the pumping principles of the human heart.

THE SURFCLEANER TECHNOLOGY

The SurfCleaner technology is unique; by combining variations in inflow velocity and direction with gravimetric separation, the process is very efficient – keeping pollutants from accumulating on the water surface and therefore help minimizing VOC emissions.

The principles behind the technology is Stig Lundbäck’s discovery of the human heart’s Dynamic Adaptive Piston Pump (DAPP) functionality. He built on DAPP to invent and develop the SurfCleaner – but he also applied other universal laws of physics from the nature and the universe, such as gravity, equilibrium, variation in rotation velocity in the center and the periphery, different density, and more.

This makes the SurfCleaner a truly natural machine, working in concert with the laws of nature, instead of trying to combat them. All we do is enhancing gravity by setting the liquid in vertical and horizontal motion inside the body of the SurfCleaner – creating a circular inflow at the top, and an outlet at the bottom – the rest is just pure physics. The SurfCleaner needs no pump, no powerpack, no hydraulics, no pneumatics. That is why the operation of the SurfCleaner is so efficient and cost-effective; we just put the forces of nature to work.
